Purchasing Essential Oil

Tips on Purchasing Essential Oils

It is important to purchase your oils through a reputable supplier, food stores are often reputable suppliers of Essential Oils. In other cases you can buy from the manufacture but you must know something about the manufacturers reputation,

- Do they belong to the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapists?

If so, it is a good indication that they are a reputable people.

Most people should be careful about purchasing Essential Oils from a multi-level marketing organization. There are many layers between the end user and the original person so that you are not really receiving good value and often are not buying from a person who know much about the product they are selling except what their manufacturer tells them.

One way people test essential oil is by putting a drop on a Kleenex and coming back and checking it out in .5 to 1 hour.

If it is an essential oil that has not been diluted by vegetable oil, as vegetable oils are cheaper, the volatile essential oils will disappear from the Kleenex while other oils will tend to stay. This does not tell you too much about the quality of the essential oil but sometimes you can judge that by the price.

If it is much below the average essential oil price, you may be buying a lower quality oil.

You can also pay much to much, 3-4 times the average price. In this case you may be overpaying for an oil that is not that much more valuable than the oil you can buy for a fair price at the health food stores.

These oils sometimes are glamorously packaged, have much exotic writing about their abilities (claiming cures that are not realistic or not possible even) in which case I would stay away from these particular oils.

Essential oils can do allot of wonderful things and are often used as a way of preventing illnesses and they can be a way of making one feel better when ill.

If somebody claims they can cure hearing loss or cancer I would be very skeptical about that provider.
