Aluminium one inch thick bearing housing CNC machined to accommodate the shaft bearings and a circlip that we decided not to install. Originally this was a one-piece design, however I found installation was very difficult and therefore we re-machined the part and re-interpreted the bearing countersinks (could also have used a spacer to prevent the bearings from being crushed out-of-round) - by making a bearing cap in this fashion, installation and assembly is much easier. There are three 10mm machine screws that hold this part to the main bearer plate and two 10mm which secure the split bearing cap. As you can see from the picture, we have also machined dowels into the assembly so that the caps possibly cannot move out of alignment or stress the bearings.
